A suitor on his way to woo his object of affection always makes sure that he is at his best self. He double check or even triple check everything before he proclaim his love for a girl. For him first impression is very important.

 

There is a common notion that states that first impression lasts. For some people this is true but for some this may be a sham. Whatever your belief is it is always important to have a good first impression especially if you are business owner trying to lure customer to patronize your product or service. So what better way of making a first good impression than through your business cards. Business cards are more than promotional materials. They do not only advertise your business but they also represent who you are. They are portable and versatile making it a business necessity. Let’s face it, when you market your product or service to someone, they expect you to hand out your business card. 

 

But it is appalling to know that most business cards are thrown out by the recipients on the first week. Hence, it is vital that your business card not merely contain what you do and where you can be contacted. It should also contain a blend of advertising and networking. Your design and your message should clearly say what you can do so that when you leave your business card with a target customer, they would be encouraged to keep the card for future reference. In other words, you should make your business card influence customer to keep it. How could you possibly do this? For starters, you could always add a list of emergency number or perhaps a calendar or meeting schedules at the back of your card. Does your company offer a free temperature, weather or time hotline? You could also put those numbers on the card.

 

Say for instance you are in a tradeshow and you and your competitors are striving for your target customer’s attention at the same time. Remember that your customers will likely pick up the card that mostly attracted their attention and is unique among the rest. So it is essential that your business card is catchy and attractive. If your competitors have their cards printed in grey paper, have yours printed in colorful card stock. Using colorful background is one good way of making your card interesting especially if your card will be lined up with a group of regular looking black and white cards.  

 

As many business opportunities come when you least expect them, it is important that you always come ready to meet and capitalize in this opportunities. Having your business card as part of your marketing strategy can perhaps help you get in the lead if not in the same place as your competitors. So get moving and make your business cards work as hard as you do.
